What does "free to join" include?

Look at the actions you expect to use, the information you must provide, the billing model and the account controls. A low starting price does not tell you the full cost of using a service.
Does a privacy claim mean secrecy is guaranteed?
No guide can promise that. Read how a service handles profile visibility, messages, account information and deletion requests. Treat privacy claims as claims to check, not a promise that your activity will remain secret.
Is cancellation the same as deletion?
Check each process separately. Ending a recurring payment, closing a profile and requesting data removal can involve different controls. Read the merchant's current instructions and keep any confirmation.
